Pork Carnitas

Approximately 101mg sodium per 3 oz serving*

2 jalapeños, diced
1 large onion, diced
1 bunch cilantro, chopped
2 limes, cut in half
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp cayenne
1 Tbsp paprika
2 tsp SALT FOR LIFE® 75
1 Tbsp chili powder
3-4 pounds pork shoulder

Yield: about 18 servings

  • Place pork shoulder into pot or slow cooker; coat with the juice of one lime and half of the cilantro.  Combine seasonings and evenly coat pork shoulder.
  • Add about an inch of water or chicken stock to bottom of pot or slow cooker and cook on medium-low heat for about 6 hours until tender and pulls apart easily.
  • Add remaining cilantro and lime juice.
  • Serve with hot corn tortillas, sour cream and salsa verde.
